Ogura Shohei was born in Obi, Nichinan City, and was a great man who helped Komura Jutaro (a diplomat active during the Meiji period) take flight into the world.
During the Seinan War, he led the Obi unit as a general of the Satsuma army, but after being injured he fled to the home of Kanda Isuke in Kawasaka, Nobeoka city, to receive treatment, but committed suicide in Kitagawa-cho, Nobeoka city. A memorial hall to protect the place where Ogura Tokohei received treatment was built in Kitagawa-cho to commemorate Ogura Tokohei.
