Nobeoka Castle and Naito Memorial Museum
Nobeoka City's history museum built on the site of the Nishinomaru (West Bailey) of Nobeoka Castle
The mansion built in 1892 by the Naito family, the former lords of Nobeoka, was donated to Nobeoka City in 1939 and opened to the public as the Naito Memorial Museum. The mansion was destroyed in the war, but in 1963, marking the 30th anniversary of the city's incorporation, the predecessor, the Naito Memorial Museum, was newly constructed. It has expanded its functions to preserve and exhibit local materials, host various meetings, and serve as a historical and folklore museum, and has been beloved by many citizens for many years. However, as the facility began to show signs of aging, work was underway to create a new museum facility, and it opened on September 23, 2022, with a new name: the Nobeoka Castle and Naito Memorial Museum.
