Jun Noguchi introduced the Casale method of ammonia synthesis in 12, becoming the first in Japan to successfully produce ammonia industrially. He established Nippon Nitrogen Fertilizer, the predecessor of Asahi Kasei, in Nobeoka, using hydroelectric power from the Gokase River.
