Atagoyama Observatory

yourloveThat might just come true?!

A hotspot recognized as a "Japanese Night View Heritage Site" and one of "Japan's Top 100 Moon Viewing Spots"!

Mount Atago, long known as a "sacred place of encounter," is associated with the myth that Ninigi-no-Mikoto, the grandson of the sun goddess, and Konohanasakuya-hime met and were united there.

Inspired by this romantic legend, the mountaintop features a "bell of encounters" that lovers can ring together, and a monument where people can attach padlocks to pledge their love, making it a popular spot for finding love and fulfilling romantic wishes.

The beautiful night view from the observation deck and the "moonlit path" leading to the sea on a full moon night will make your time together even more magical.

This is a romantic spot that represents Nobeoka and is perfect for visiting with someone special.

Nobeoka Castle Ruins and Shiroyama Park

A historical park developed on the site of Nobeoka Castle, which was built in 1603 by Takahashi Mototane, the first lord of the Nobeoka Domain.

One of the most striking features in the park is the massive stone wall, approximately 19 meters high, known as the "Wall of a Thousand Killers." It was given this name because it was said that if the foundation stones were removed, the wall would collapse, allowing one to defeat many enemies. Seeing it up close is truly awe-inspiring.

On the site of the castle tower stands the "Castle Mountain Bell," which has been telling time to the town of Nobeoka since 1878. Even today, the sound of the bell resonates throughout the town six times a day.

In spring, over 3,000 wild camellias of 108 varieties and approximately 300 cherry trees bloom, creating a beautiful landscape alongside the historic stone walls.
