[Day 1] Takachiho Gorge

A mysterious drop will nourish their future.

The pyroclastic flows generated by Aso's volcanic activity have created a deep, V-shaped canyon over many years. The towering cliffs of columnar jointing are works of art that tell the story of nature's power.

The best way to experience this scenery up close is by taking a rental boat, a local specialty. Looking up at the 17-meter-high Manai Falls from a boat, you're sure to be left breathless by its sheer power.

Enjoy a magnificent view from a prime spot on the water, a panorama unlike anything you'd see from the promenade. Along the way, write your wish on a heart-shaped ema (votive tablet). May this be a moment that deepens the bond with your loved one.

Mythological spots certified as "Japan Night View Heritage Sites" and "Japan's 100 Famous Moon Viewing Spots"

Located in the heart of Nobeoka City, this 251-meter-high mountain offers a 360° panoramic view of the city from its observation deck near the summit, and has been designated a "Japan Night View Heritage Site."

Furthermore, it has been selected as one of "Japan's 100 Best Moon Viewing Spots," and if conditions are right, on nights when the full moon rises, a "moonlit path" appears on the vast ocean, making the night view even more fantastical.

During the day, if the weather is good and you're lucky, you can see Shikoku.

Mount Atago, with its numerous shell mounds in the surrounding areas of Okita and Katada, was originally a peninsula jutting out into the sea in ancient times and was known as Kasasa-no-Misaki or Mount Kasasa.

Legend says that Ninigi-no-Mikoto and Konohanasakuya-hime met and married at Kasasa-no-Misaki, and their children were Umisachihiko and Yamasachihiko. A monument commemorating this myth has been erected, and the area has become a popular date spot.

[Day 2] The Sea of the Cross where wishes come true

A gift from nature, imbued with a mystical atmosphere.

A massive reef has been split by wave erosion, stretching approximately 200 meters east-west and 220 meters north-south, forming a cross shape when viewed from above.

Outside the main rock is a small rock formation, and when combined with it, they resemble the Japanese character for "wish" (叶), making this a mystical spot where it is said that wishes come true for those who visit.

When the waves are calm, you can clearly see the cross, and a spectacular view unfolds along with the deep blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.

A bell has been installed at the observation deck, where you can make a wish and send it to the heavens, creating a romantic atmosphere. Make a wish and ring the beautiful bell. It's only about a 3-minute drive from Umagase, so why not stop by when you visit with someone special?

Nearby is a road famous for its hairpin turns, making it a popular driving route.

A truly awe-inspiring view! Sheer cliffs seen from a glass observation deck.

Located at the tip of Hyuga Cape, Umagase is known as one of the most representative scenic spots in the Hyuga area. There are two observation points nearby, "Umagase" and "Umagase Cliffs," from which you can enjoy the magnificent scenery from different angles.

At the "Umagase Cliff," a glass-enclosed observation facility called "Skelcha!" was built in 2022, jutting out towards the sea. It's a thrilling scenic spot where you can feel the cliffs and the sea stretching out below up close. A two-minute walk from there will take you to the Hyuga Cape Observation Deck "Umagase." The name comes from the fact that the topography of the cape resembles a horse's back.
