西郷隆盛宿陣跡資料館

The highlight is the faithful reproduction of the military council of the time.

This house is associated with Saigo Takamori, who stopped by when his army fled to Kitagawa after suffering a major defeat in the Battle of Wadagoe. It is now a museum where Takamori's favorite belongings and war documents are on display.

Ninigi no Mikoto Mausoleum Reference Site (Kitagawa Mausoleum Reference Site)

A mythical spot said to be the final resting place of Ninigi-no-Mikoto, the grandson of heaven

The mound at the foot of Mount Kawai, said to be the final resting place of Ninigi-no-Mikoto, the grandson of the sun goddess Ninigi, as told in the myth of the descent of the sun goddess, has been designated as a reference site for an imperial tomb by the Imperial Household Agency. Hiking around the Hokoiwa rock formation on Mount Kawai is also a popular activity.

Please use the parking lot at the Saigo Takamori Encampment Site Museum. (Free of charge)
